You can experience all of this and more by becoming an Active Member of VMR Southport. Active Membership is a great way to meet new people and provide a valuable service to the community.
Should you wish to be Active in the VMR Southport Organisation, contact our Rescue Base on Ph. (07) 5591 1300 and register your interest. You will be further contacted by the Recruitment Officer.
Active membership can include becoming a Radio Operator, Rescue vessel Crew Member, or undertaking Administrative Duties.
Training for VMR Southport Active members, both Boat crew and Radio Operators, is provided free of charge by VMR Southport, excluding any Government fees or outsourcing costs. VMR Southport is a Registered Training Organisation and all training is recognised under National systems. Most of the training is provided by qualified VMR Southport members, or in the case of First Aid, by the Qld Ambulance Service. On completion of all training modules an endorsed Certificate of Competency is received.
Radio Operators operate both the VMR Base radios and the radios at the Gold Coast Seaway Tower.
VMR Southport is a Registered Training Organisation and training is recognised under National systems.
Active members of VMR Southport enjoy a satisfying, fulfilling and important contribution to the boating population of the Gold Coast.
