Marine Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency (LROCP)
Volunteer Marine Rescue Southport (VMR400) encourages all VMR members and the general public to obtain their LROCP licence.
Self-learning is promoted in attaining this licence and as such attending a Course is not necessary.
Interested persons are encouraged to contact the VMR Base to obtain a study manual. Studying this manual and further revision from the Australian Maritime College website allows study to be undertaken in your own time and Licence exams can be organized and conducted at the VMR Base.

Study Manual – $50 – Available from VMR Base
Examination Cost
$89 (subject to change) – University of Tasmania (Aust. Maritime College) Licence Examination fee. This fee must be paid prior to sitting the exam and is non-refundable.
- A passport size photo is also required.
- 7 days’ notice is required in booking exams.
On passing the LROCP exam, VMR Southport will gladly provide ongoing training FREE to people interested in joining the Organisation as a Radio Operator. VMR Radio Operator’s provide a marine radio safety watch at either the VMR Southport Base and / or the Gold Coast Seaway Tower.
